For many years my barber suggested that I use Rolda - Black Hair Styling Gel to assist on managing my hair. I was always reluctant to use any hair products; however, as a result of the COVID-19 emergency, my Barbershop closed. I eventually found a new barber who introduced me to a new haircut. Rolda's Black Hair Styling Gel is surprisingly good as a styling gel, and the hold is fantastic. My only gripe is the shine doesn't last long after the application. After a few hours, my hair still had the short and tight curls I desired but was very dull. The shine or the advertised wet look disappears an hour or so after the application. The directions do not specify if I could reapply the gel as needed. Rolda should invest time in refining the gel to produce a lasting shine.

Our black styling gel provides a shine due to its water-based formula. As the gel is 70% water, as it dries & holds a small amount of the water evaporates which can reduce the shine. The amount of shine the product leaves also depends on the hair type & thickness as well as how much product is applied. If you’re looking for a similar effect with more shine, I recommend trying our Black Pomade or Black Brilliant Wax. These products offer a glossy finish while providing the same desired hold effect you're looking for.
